Our Infrastructure - major improvement projects
Snowy Valleys Council is proud to be delivering over $10.2 million in Government funded infrastructure and improvement projects for the community of Tumbarumba.

Council Led Projects
Tumbarumba Pump Track - $149,500
Construction of a multi-use asphalt pump track in partnership with Cycle Tumbarumba. Hyne Community Trust contributed an additional $50,000 to the project. This state-of-the-art pump track was officially opened in December 2018.
Tumbarumba Caravan Park Redevelopment - $1,040,000
Construction of two double-storey accommodation units. Completed December 2018. Installation of camp kitchen. Completed February 2019. Council contributed $1,646,519.03 of additional funding to the project.
Upgrade of the Tumbarumba Sportsground - $308,000
Improvements to the sportsground playing surface and installation of an automatic irrigation system were completed in March 2019.
Tumbarumba Creekscape - $425,000
Completion of stage one of a five stage master plan for the redevelopment of the Tumbarumba Creekscape. Project completed in late 2019.
Improvements to Playground - $80,000
Upgrade the existing Creekscape playground equipment and installation of a new shade sail. This project was completed in October 2019.
Tumbarumba Showground - Resurfacing and New Amenities - $1,000,000
Improvements to the playing surface, irrigation, and installation of modern new amenities and change rooms. Upgrades were completed in December 2019 in time for holiday visitors.
Tumbarumba to Rosewood Rail Trail - $5,700,000
Conversion of the original 22km rail corridor between Tumbarumba and Rosewood into a multi-purpose bitumen rail trail. The new rail trail was officially opened in April 2020.
Carcoola New Kitchen and Dining Room - $80,000
Renovation of Carcoola Children’s Centre to include a new kitchen and dining room. Project completed in September 2020.
Tumbarumba Historical Walking Track- $40,000
Enhancement of historical walking tracks including additional signage and artefacts delivered by Tumbarumba Historical Society was completed in 2020.
Tumbarumba Links with Mountain Bike Trail - $350,000
Installation of a bike path from Byatt Street to the cemetery and a mountain bike trail form the cemetery to Henry Angel camping area. Path formation and sealing is complete. The trail from the cemetery to Henry Angel camping area was undertaken in partnership with the community.
Snowy Valleys Tourism App - $20,000
Develop an app to provide improved wayfinding, better coordination of experiences and increased connectivity in the Snowy Valleys region. The Visit Snowy Valleys app went live in July 2020 and is available for download on Apple and Android devices.
Tumbarumba Wi-Fi Upgrade - $12,500
Public Wi-Fi access within the town centre was completed in June 2021. Work included negotiating power pole lease agreements with energy providers, commissioning and installation of NBN lines, and the purchase and installation of electrical equipment.
Tumbarumba Upgraded Learn to Swim Pool/Water Play Pool - $928,000
The new-look upgrade of the Tumbarumba Swimming Pool Complex includes a new learn-to-swim pool (suitable for aqua aerobics), baby pool and splash zone with water toys. The pool opened to locals and visitors before Christmas and was official opened on Friday 12 February 2021.
Community Led Project
Tumbarumba Mountain Bike Trail - $40,000
Acquisition of trail building tools and construction of a mountain bike trail. This project has been completed.
Tumbarumba Tennis Club Upgrade - $64,103
Construction of a new toilet block and an upgrade of the kitchen area. This project was completed in May 2020.
