Consultation has concluded
Background
Snowy Valleys Council secured $308,000 in funding to upgrade the playing surface at the Tumbarumba Sportsground through the first round of the NSW Government’s Stronger Country Communities Fund.
The Project
Continued battering from cold and wet winters had left the 50+ year old Tumbarumba Sportsground in a poor state of repair with frequent water-logging creating a patchy and uneven playing surface.
Funding for the upgrade of the oval enabled Council to remove the existing playing surface and re-turf the oval as well as install subsoil drainage and an automatic irrigation system. The project was completed in March 2019.
The upgrades will allow for greater usage of the playing fields and will also result in improved player safety. It is now a high-calibre playing field the Tumbarumba community can be proud of.
