We are undertaking a service level review to examine the services that Council delivers and how they should be prioritised in the future.

By taking the challenge you can see the big picture about what Council does, understand the costs associated with delivering these services and better understand the overall budget impacts.

With a limited budget to provide all of our services, ranging from roads, waste, water and sewerage to libraries, tourism and community development, it is important to get the mix right and make sure that our available resources are allocated effectively and efficiently.

You can also tell us more about why you’ve selected a particular budget allocation for each service and how you think Council should address the issue of generating additional revenues.

    We’re seeking expressions of interest from the community to be a part of our Community Service Review Sounding Board.

    The Community Sounding Board will provide an important opportunity for locals to consider how services are delivered by Council to meet the expectations and ensure value for money.

    It is an important opportunity for Council and the community to have a robust conversation about how best to deliver services to the community within available resources.

    The Community Sounding Board will assist Council to examine the services delivered to ensure they meet the community’s needs, and are delivered in a way that is financially sustainable into the future.

    The Community Sounding Board will meet fortnightly (on Saturdays) over four occasions, commencing on Saturday 27 October 2018: two short (2hr) sessions and two full-day sessions.

    We want to ensure a diverse representation on the Sounding Board so if you are interested please download the application form

    Defining future levels of service and engaging with the community regarding expectations and parameters are key objectives as Council launches into its Service Level Review project.

    Council’s General Manager Matthew Hyde said the services that Council delivers to, and for the community are provided within limited resources and it was important to ensure efficiencies to safeguard a financially sustainable future.

    Snowy Valleys Council is reviewing the services it delivers to the community. This will ensure we continue to be financially sustainable, delivering the best possible value to the community and meeting your needs.

    This service review is a conversation between council and the community via surveys, a Community Sounding Board and an on-line participatory budget allocator tool.

    Your input and ideas will help us formulate future plans for service delivery, including how budgets are allocated.

    By getting involved you will see the big picture about what Council does, be able to appreciate the costs associated with varying the services Council provides, and better understand the overall budget impacts.
