Creating welcoming towns and villages that are vibrant, accessible and foster a sense of community.

Background

Snowy Valleys Council secured $540,000 in funding through the NSW Government’s Major Projects Infrastructure Fund to review CBD master plans for Batlow and develop a detailed design and cost plan to undertake prioritised streetscape improvements. The works were completed in March 2021.

The Project

The streetscape revitalisation works will be undertaken in two stages, stage one was completed in February 2020.

Stage 1 - Complete

Upgrades incorporate pavement repairs in Batlow Road, pavement repairs and resurfacing on Pioneer Street, new and upgraded rubbish bins, seating and planter boxes.

Stage 2

Stage 2 of the project was re-scoped after the proposed pedestrian refuge in Batlow Road failed to obtain TfNSW approval due to safety issues. Works were completed in March 2021 and include; footpath stencilling between IGA and Pioneer Street along Batlow Road, bench seating, waste bins, embankment landscaping and the refurbishment of the Pioneer Street toilet facilities next to the Batlow Literary Institute.
