Our Infrastructure - major improvement projects

Snowy Valleys Council is proud to be delivering over $4.8 million in Government funded infrastructure and improvement projects for the community of Tumut.

Council Led Projects

Tumut Bull Paddock Surface Upgrade - $297,130

Improvements to the two southern sportsground playing surfaces and installation of an automatic irrigation system was completed January 2020.

Improved Recreational Facilities - Bull Paddock - $130,000

Sealing of the car park surface adjacent to the Bull Paddock was completed in May 2019.

Tumut CBD Development Accessibility and Amenity - $1,760,000

The Tumut CBD beautification streetscape project was completed in April 2021. Upgrades include new paving, landscaping, street furniture, waste bins, tree surrounds and painting.

Tumut Pool - Stage 1 - $1,008,000

Construction of a new entry and amenities building at Tumut pool was opened to the public on 17 November 2020.

Tumut Pump Track and Cycling Initiatives - $500,000

Construction of an asphalt pump track and a designated footpath/cycle way connecting the Bull Paddock area to Elm Drive was official opened in December 2019 with an exciting activation event attended by hundreds of local youth.

Tumut Wi-Fi Upgrades - $10,000

Public Wi-Fi access within the town centre was installed in June 2021. Work included negotiating power pole lease agreements with energy providers, commissioning and installation of NBN lines, and the purchase and installation of electrical equipment.

Regulate Water Temperature of Tumut Pool - $204,000

Pool blankets were installed in February 2020 and solar panels were installed on the new shelter roof in September 2020. October water temperatures were recorded as an average of 24 degrees versus 18.5 at the same time last year.

Tumut Skate Park Redevelopment - $137,230

The new improved skate park, catering for younger beginners opened in April 2021.

Community Led Projects

Tumut Montreal Theatre Upgrade - $381,000

Refurbishment of the Montreal Community Theatre included new toilets was completed in March 2021.

Tumut Jack Ryan Memorial and Centenary of WW1 Project - $10,000

Installation of a pathway and lighting to enhance the Jack Ryan Memorial was completed in early 2020.

Gilmore Hall Repairs and Renovations - $50,000

Repairs and renovations to the Gilmore Hall are complete.

Thomas Boyd Track Head Facility Upgrade - $22,923

This popular camping spot now boasts sealed roads and carparks, four new shade shelters and an accessibility concrete pathway to connect the BBQ area, toilet block and car park. Project was completed in October 2019.

Tumut Rugby League Changeroom Twickenham Oval - $250,000

Construction of a new toilet and change room facility has been completed.

Tumut Tennis Courts Resurfacing - $87,000

Conversion of three existing clay surfaced tennis courts to synthetic grass surface courts has been completed.

Council Led Projects

Tumut Bull Paddock Surface Upgrade - $297,130
