Consultation has concluded
Our Infrastructure - Provide high quality, safe and accessible open spaces and places for active and passive recreation
About the project
Council received $500,000 in grant funding through the NSW Government's Stronger Communities Round 2 to design and construct a multi-use asphalt pump track in Tumut and construct a designated footpath/cycle way connecting the Bull Paddock area to Elm Drive.
The pump track complements the existing youth infrastructure in the area and broadens the facilities available for different age groups and abilities not catered for by the existing skate park.
The Pump Track Opens
The Pump Track opened with an awesome celebration event on 13 December 2019. Councillors joined a massive gathering of people young and old to ride the track for the first time.
The track build got underway in September 2019, by the end of November the asphalt track was complete and the turf was laid in the first week of December ready for the opening.
What is a pump track?
Pump tracks are suitable for all abilities and anything on wheels including bikes, scooters and skateboards. It provides a facility for children to learn and practice the skills required for mountain biking and riding the skate park.
The pump track design features regular banked ramps and smooth curved corners. The design means riders only need to give a quick ‘pump’ of the bike pedal to propel their way around the course.

The new asphalt pump track will be built in the south-west corner of the Tumut Bull Paddock near the corner of Fitzroy and Sydney Streets.
Snowy Valleys Council Mayor Cr James Hayes said he is
pleased to see the project starting to take form.
“Following on from the successful 2018 pump track build
in Tumbarumba, it’s now Tumut’s turn for this great recreational facility for
all ages and abilities to enjoy,” he said.
“Situating it adjacent to the existing skate park and
basketball courts means that this area of the Bull Paddock is developing into a
really exhilarating youth precinct,” said Cr Hayes.
