Member for Albury, Justin Clancy MP will cut the ribbon to celebrate the official opening of the Tumbarumba to Rosewood Rail Trail on Friday 3 April 2020. Official proceedings will commence at 11:30am at the Figures Street trackhead.
Snowy Valleys Council Mayor Cr James Hayes will join Mr Clancy, the Tumbarumba to Rosewood Rail Trail Committee, locals and trail enthusiasts from all over Australia to officially open the much anticipated 22 kilometre cycling and walking trail.

First Stock Overpass

#tumbarumbatorosewoodrailtrail progress - the first of 7 stock overpasses has been installed on the trail. Once complete with backfill, fences and the works, stock can move freely to cross over the trail and riders/runners don’t have the inconvenience of stopping to open and close stock gates.

Work is underway on rail trail bridges.
A 100 tonne crane was used to remove the main beans at Mannus Creek Bridge.
Here is an photo of bridge number 6 on Wagga Road at Hulm’s, on schedule for completion by the end of the week.

Another exciting stage of the project commenced this week, the Figure Street carpark and approximately 2kms of trail was sealed with more sealing planned before Christmas.

Work continues on the Tumbarumba to Rosewood Rail Trail and we had another very productive session with the Tumbarumba Friends of the Rail Trail last week, where we discussed the designs for the Rosewood track head, Wolseley Park former station site and Figures Street trail access.

Work on the Tumbarumba to Rosewood Rail Trail is gaining momentum with the removal of vegetation and tree chipping well underway. Rails and sleepers are piling up alongside several sections of the historic rail corridor and the trail is really starting to take shape.

Member for Albury Justin Clancy and former Member for Albury Greg Aplin joined Snowy Valleys Council Mayor Cr James Hayes and Owen Fitzgerald of Friends of Rail Trail today in turning the first sod to celebrate the official commencement of construction on the Tumbarumba to Rosewood Rail Trail.
A pilot for the state and a working model for future rail trails, the approximately 22 kilometre walking and cycling track is expected to be a boon for the Snowy Valleys, cementing our region as a premium cycling destination.
The $5.7 million NSW Government funded trail is expected to be completed by the end of February 2020.

This week Council's rail trail crew has been focused on removing trees that have taken root between the tracks since trains stopped running along the rails between Tumbarumba and Rosewood.
Different methods are being trialed to determine the most effective way to remove the trees and we are working on a re-vegetation plan to later replant trees and shrubs that will complement the use of the track.

General Manager, Matthew Hyde, Councillor Julia Ham and daughter Alice joined Friends of the Rail Trail and Council Project Managers for some fresh air and wide open spaces this week. It was worth the early start to experience the magic of the Tumbarumba Region at sunrise and walk over the highly anticipated first stage of the Tumbarumba to Rosewood Rail Trail.
