The project was officially opened on Wednesday 27 March 2023 and the park was abuzz with the sounds of children playing and people chatting. A big thank you to Cycle Tumbarumba members for putting on a delicious afternoon tea. Council worked closely with Cycle Tumbarumba to integrate the bicycle playground into the parks upgrades, resulting in a fantastic outcome.
Stage one included:
- New amenities building – wheelchair accessible and raised above flood level for cleaning cost-saving
- Landscaping and concrete terrace seating facing the skatepark and turf mound facing the oval
- Cycle Playground – new playground incorporating cycle and nature play. Cycle Tumbarumba secured a NSW Government grant and oversaw the building
- Low maintenance plantings and more seating and picnic tables
- New playground equipment
- Sculptures – designed and installed by Snowy Valleys Sculpture Trail
Funding
Through the NSW Government's Public Spaces Legacy Program Council received $650,000 for Tumbarumba Skatepark & Playground (Creekscape) Masterplanning and Upgrade Project.
