Snowy Valleys Council is committed to minimising bias, reducing harm, and respecting the cultural, social, and environmental context of the Snowy Valleys region. All AI tools and outputs must be monitored, validated, and subject to appropriate human oversight to maintain the integrity of Council decisions.
The purpose of this draft policy is to establish a clear framework for the ethical, transparent, and responsible use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) within Council. It ensures that AI technologies are used lawfully and ethically, in ways that benefit the community and support improved decision-making, service delivery, and operational efficiency.
This draft policy aligns with the Australian AI Ethics Framework, the NSW Artificial Intelligence Assurance Framework, and all relevant legislation and regulatory requirements.
