The upgrade is scheduled to commence in September/October this year, with the 10.6km section delivered in stages over five construction seasons.

Works will begin at the Piccadilly Circus intersection on the NSW/ACT border, with crews progressively working back towards Tumut. Construction will take place each year from September to June, pausing over winter due to weather conditions.

The final construction season will include the installation of guardrails, sealing and line marking across the entire 10.6km section.

Once complete, this section of road will be transformed from a substandard gravel road into a fully sealed two-lane road, featuring improved drainage, new signage and a range of road safety upgrades.
