Consultation has concluded
Our Infrastructure - provide and partner with other agencies to deliver an effective and safe local transport nextwork
The Project
To survey and design a 10.6km section of the Brindabella Road within the Snowy Valleys Council LGA.
$308,000 was allocated through the Stronger Communities Major Infrastructure Fund to engage external consultants to review and update an existing economic feasibility study to determine benefits of a road upgrade, and to obtain a cost estimate for the design of the major upgrade of the road section from Piccadilly Circus to the Goodradigbee bridge.
The design brief includes options to manage road safety through widening, sealing, and provision of guardrails, stormwater drainage, slope stability and improving environmental impacts.
It is expected that this important piece of survey and design work, along with updated costings, will provide the basis for a funding/treatment model for the unsealed section of road.
Council is actively pursuing funding opportunities for upgrading the road, noting its significance as a tourist link between Canberra and the Snowy Valleys
