Batlow Pool Upgrades
Improvements to the Batlow Pool have been welcomed by the community. The exciting upgrades provide crucial safety upgrades as well as new infrastructure, including:
- replacing the old amenity block with toilets, shower, disabled access, canteen, entry area and office
- replacing the toddler and baby pools with a learn-to-swim pool and splash play area
- additional shade structures, designated equipment and storage areas, new solar heating and a blanket system to regulate water temperature, improved drainage and replacement of backflow pipes
Construction was completed in April 2023.
Council received funding of $1,750,000 from the NSW and the Commonwealth Governments Stage Two of the Bushfire Local Economic Recovery Fund.

Batlow Pool opening tomorrow, Friday 13 January with temporary toilet facilities. While we finish off the final items on the new amenity buildings, we have come up with a temporary solution to allow locals to use the pool.
Entry via the service gate at the opposite end to regular entrance. -

Upgrades works at the Batlow and Khancoban pools have been delayed due to wet weather and will not be completed prior to the Christmas break.
Both pools are now slated to open in mid-January 2023.

Upgrade works at the Batlow Pool are in the final stages. The new shade structure is up and the final concrete concourse was poured today. Work on the new learn-to-swim pool and splash zone area is complete and the water features are ready to be installed.
The old amenities building has been demolished and footings for the new building will be poured next week.
The ongoing wet weather has delayed the arrival of the new amenities buildings and we have our fingers crossed for a break in the weather. The building is scheduled to arrive at the end of this month.

Continuous wet weather has hampered the works schedule on the new Batlow learn-to-swim pool and this year's pool season will be delayed. We are working hard to open the pool for the Christmas school holidays.
The learn-to-swim pool is nearing completion, tiling of the pool shell is almost finished and handrails have been installed. The new plant room has been built and the roof is up, allowing for some undercover work to be finalised. Water toys in the splash zone will be installed in the coming weeks.
The new amenities building is scheduled to arrive in early November, and work to connect buildings to utilities will be fast tracked. Final upgrade works include a new shade structure, concrete paths and rehabilitation of the lawn area.

Upgrades at the Batlow pool are progressing well, however wet weather continues to slow progress.
Teams are preparing for the first concrete pour and favourable weather conditions over the coming weeks will help to keep works tracking.
This year’s pool season opening may be delayed but it’ll be worth the wait! Stay tuned for details to come.
Upgrades include replacing the toddler and baby pools with a new learn-to-swim pool and splash play area, replacement of amenity building with new toilets, shower, disabled access, canteen, entry area and office and a new fence around the pool facility.

On-site works to demolish the existing toddler and baby pools will commence later this month (weather permitting of course)! The contractor has started works at the Tumut pool and will work between Batlow and Tumut pools to complete the projects for the upcoming pool season.
A contract has been awarded for the construction of the new amenities building and we are in the final design stage. The building will be constructed off-site and local trades will be utilised where possible during the installation and commissioning stage.

At the February Ordinary Council meeting Council resolved to not accept any of the tenders received for the Design and Construction of the Learn to Swim and Water Play Pools or the Design and Construction of the new amenities building.
