The Project
In December 2022, the brand-new learn-to-swim pool and splash play zone opened. This state-of-the-art facility quickly became a beloved gathering place for both local families and visitors throughout the summer of 2023, promising countless years of enjoyment to come
The project also included installation of separate pool filtration and chlorination systems.
Council secured $900,000 in funding under the Local Economic Recovery program, which is jointly funded by the Australian and New South Wales governments.
Stage 1
Stage 1 of the Tumut Pool upgrades was completed in November 2020 and saw the redevelopment of the entry area, office, canteen, toilets, showers and change rooms creating best practice state of the art accessibility facilities. The Richmond Street carpark was also resealed, and an accessibility path now leads from the carpark to the main entrance. A modern black fence complements the front entry and was installed around the entire pool complex boundary. Funding of $1,008,000 for Stage 1 was allocated from the NSW Government’s Major Projects Infrastructure Fund. Click here to learn more about Stage 1
Council also received $204,000 in funding for pool blankets and a new shelter roof with solar panels which were installed in 2020 to help regulate water temperatures.

Tumut is coming out of its wettest August in more than 35 years and the Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) are predicting wetter than average conditions over eastern Australia for Spring.
Safe to say the rain is here to stay so our team down at the Tumut pool have come up with an initiative way to get the job done. The marquees are multiplying and work continues.
Unfortunately, the rain has delayed the schedule a little however when the pool opens in October, the worksite will be fenced off whilst we work to safely complete construction.

The wet weather has caused some access complications, as the grounds cannot support the heavy machinery. The existing learn-to-swim pool has had to be filled with sand to allow machinery in for the installation of the balance and backwash tanks. Once the tanks are installed the existing pool will then be removed. Completion of the project is still slated for the 2022/23 pool season, weather permitting
