We have already had positive community feedback that the sightlines to the sports oval have been dramatically improved and that there is a general feeling of more openness in the park now.

Construction of the amenities building in Goldfields Park kicked off today. A section of the park, from the pool carpark to the skate park will be closed during construction.

Other works to be delivered including: installation of more seating and picnic tables, strategically placed lighting around the new amenities building, low maintenance plantings and demolition of existing (old) amenities building.

With favourable weather conditions, it is anticipated that the new building will be commissioned and opened to the public in the spring. Last month Council received a project timeline extension to December 2023 to accommodate the delays in the delivery of the building.

Work has started on forming a large, raised mound in preparation for the installation of the new park amenities.

The mound is situated between the existing amenities and the oval and will enable the new amenities to sit above the low flood levels.

Once completed and turfed the raised ground will complement the landscape and feature concrete terrace seating.

The prefabricated new amenities building has been ordered, but due to demand and the battling construction industry delivery is slated for March 2023.

In the meantime, the existing amenities will remain open for locals and visitors.

    26 August 2022

At their August meeting Council resolved to replace the bespoke amenities block (included in the original masterplan) with an "off the shelf" prefabricated style building. It's estimated the prefabricated building could reduce the amenities build by approximately $150,000, savings that would be put into additional stage one improvements.

Council also resolved to locate the amenities in Goldfield Park at a location to be agreed with the local community and after further discussions with park user groups the new amenities building will remain at the site designated in the Masterplan, in front of the existing amenities.

Negotiations with potential amenities contractors are now underway.

The project completion date has been extended until June 2023

Work has begun on Tumbarumba’s new Bike Playground at Goldfields Park. The bike playground will feature a mini play road network, which caters for the youngest cyclists learning to ride, scoot or skate. The final design was developed as part of the Goldfields Park Upgrade masterplan, and seeks to complement the existing skate park, playground and pump track.

Cycle Tumbarumba received $224,000 for the new bike playground in 2019 through Round 3 of the NSW Government’s Stronger Country Communities Fund and is managing the project.

On completion of the Bike Playground work will begin on the rest of the upgrades.
