Consultation has concluded

A total of $225,000 in funding was secured from the NSW Government’s Major Projects Infrastructure Fund and Stronger Communities Fund (Round 2) for the development and construction of a town beautification plan and playground for Talbingo.

The unique playground and picnic area was completed in June 2020 and is already proving to be a popular gathering spot for local families and day trippers. The space is perfectly positioned on the sloping green space adjacent to Talbingo Shopping Centre and takes advantage of the views across Jounama Pondage.

A special naming celebration was held on 5 August 2020 to unveil the new playground sign. We would like to thank the students from Talbingo Public School for helping to name the playground. The name chosen was Bingi meaning 'Big Belly' after the Talbingo Mountain.

Bingi Playground is an engaging and playful space with opportunity for future expansion.

    5 August 2020

Council invited the students from Talbingo Public School to come up with a name for the new Talbingo adventure playground. Mrs Levey (Talbingo School Principal) set the students a homework task to submit a name that had a connection to the indigenous history of the area or the Snowy Hydro scheme.

The students voted Bingi the winner! Bingi meaning 'Big Belly' after the big Talbingo mountain.

Cr Cate Cross joined the students in unveiling the name of the new playground and a little fun was had by all (see photo of Cr Cross in the mouse house).

The new sign tells a story about how the name was chosen and it’s meaning.

Thanks to Stan Russell for performing the smoking ceremony.

    The Mouse House is Spinning!

Stage two of the Talbingo town beautification and playground project is now complete.

The basket swing was recently installed and this week saw the installation of the much talked about 'mouse house wheel'.

The wheel is a first for the Snowy Valleys and we know that it's going to provide loads of fun for all those who give it a spin.

The park is looking fantastic and we hope the June long weekend visitors enjoy their time in Talbingo and the Snowy Valleys!
