Council is seeking public submissions on a proposed Road name for the Tumut Golf Links Estate Subdivision

The name ‘Prospero Drive’ has received preapproval from the Geographic Names Board and Council is now seeking public comment on the choice.

The Golf Links Estate subdivision at the Tumut Golf Club has a new roadway which has a proposed name of ‘Prospero Drive’.

The proposed road name is not included in the list of pre-approved names that forms part of Council’s Road Naming Policy; however, an exemption has been requested based on:

  • The location of the subdivision at the Tumut Golf Club
  • the relationship and linkage of ‘Drive’ to golfing, and the potential expansion of the road to meet the naming requirements in the future.
  • Prospero Ellis was a keen local golfer with many years association with the Tumut Golf Club, he was also the course designer.
  • Ellis Drive was first considered for the application, however due to five conflicting names within the Local Government Area, it was not approved by the Geographic Names Board.
