Every four years, each New South Wales Council must work with its community to develop a CSP to document the community’s aspirations and priorities. Having a CSP ensures that our council planning is based on a sound understanding of the community’s expectations around priorities.
Council has a custodial role in initiating and preparing the CSP, but it is a community plan. Many partners, such as state agencies and community groups, will be responsible for its implementation. The CSP ensures the whole community can contribute and work towards a shared vision for a better future.
Towards 2042
Over the past year our current Community Strategic Plan (CSP), which was adopted in 2021, has been reviewed to ensure the Plan remains relevant and aligned with community priorities.
From 1 February to 15 March 2024 a total of 458 Snowy Valleys residents participated in the Towards 2042 Stage 1 engagement activities. The engagement was essentially focused on four questions. Where are we now, where do we want to be, how will we get there and when will we know we have arrived.
Following the community engagement Council has undertaken a review of the CSP, incorporating feedback from the community into this revised edition.
The revised CSP consists of five (5) key Themes which have been slightly adjusted to better represent community aspirations:
Our Community – Our Communities are connected and inclusive, supported by services that nurture health, wellbeing and identity.
Our Economy – Our diverse economy supports community longevity, vibrancy and a sustainable future.
Our Environment – Our natural environment is cared for and protected to ensure future generations can experience and enjoy its beauty.
Our Infrastructure – Our local infrastructure is sustainable and facilitates our way of life.
Our Civic Leadership – Our civic Leadership and organisational governance fosters open and transparent partnerships with our community.
