Snowy Valleys Council is committed to protecting the privacy of our Community, Business contacts, Volunteers and Employees.

The Snowy Valleys Council's Privacy Management Plan, originally drafted in 2020, has been reviewed and rewritten to meet new obligations, streamline the document and align with examples from other NSW councils. In particular, the object of this plan is to provide information about:

  • how personal information will be collected, stored, used and destroyed after it is collected by Council;
  • how Council officials assess requests for access to, and disclosure of, personal and/ or Health information to a person or persons; and
  • Council officials' obligations in relation to handling personal information and when they can and cannot disclose, use or collect it.

The Privacy Commissioner also now requires that privacy management plans include information about the Mandatory Notification of Data Breach (MNDB) Scheme.
