Snowy Valleys Council provides water supply and wastewater collection services to the community; these services are funded by users through annual access and quarterly usage charges.

Access and usage charges are set to recover the cost of providing water and wastewater services, including operations and maintenance activities, and to raise the income necessary for the long term financial sustainability of the water supply and wastewater businesses, including investments in new and replacement infrastructure.

The Draft Water and Wastewater Charging Policy includes revised options for customers where there is a water account dispute and/or undetected water leak, and sets out to ensure adequate water supply and wastewater services are provided to the community, with due consideration to circumstances which may reasonably be outside of a customer’s control, such as undetected leaks; ensure appropriate water tariff and recovery measures are in place; and to provide water supply and wastewater services to as many areas of our community as possible at an appropriate cost.
