Consultation has concluded

The Batlow Caravan Park upgrade project was completed and the park reopened for camping and caravans in July 2020.

Background

Funding of $723,000 was allocated from the NSW Government's Major Projects Infrastructure Fund to undertake a compliance audit of the Batlow Caravan Park and undertake a prioritised schedule of works to ensure the park complies with current standards.

The Project

Due to the extent of upgrades identified in the compliance audit, the Batlow Caravan Park was fully closed while remediation works were undertaken. Council worked closely with the vacating lessee and permanent residents of the park to secure alternate accommodation.

Work included a clean-up of the park, removal of dilapidated buildings, installation of new buildings including office, amenities and camp kitchen, improvements to roads and fencing and electrical upgrades.

Following the devastating Black Summer bushfires Snowy Valleys Council purchased and installed six cabins at the Batlow Caravan Park and made them available as temporary, affordable accommodation for local residents impacted by the fires.

    12 March 2020

Six new cabins rolled into Batlow Caravan Park this week, providing options for temporary accommodation for locals impacted by the bushfire and kickstarting Batlow’s long term economic recovery.

Snowy Valleys Council made the decision to purchase the additional six cabins for the Batlow Caravan Park in January as a direct response to the bushfire crisis with the intent to make them available as a temporary accommodation solution for local residents who were affected by the fires as quickly as possible.

The cabins were purchased in January, prefabricated offsite and delivered this week with installation works now underway.

The six new cabins are in addition to the $723,000 upgrade to the Batlow Caravan Park that has included the removal of dilapidated buildings, installation of new buildings including office, amenities and camp kitchen, improvements to roads and fencing and electrical upgrades.

The work is being fast tracked at the Caravan Park, with the aim of opening prior to Easter.
