Our Towns and Villages - In 2028 we will be a region that celebrates and nurtures the unique character of its towns and villages
Background
One-off funding of $100,000 has been secured from the second round of the NSW Government's Stronger Communities Fund to clean-up and improve Adelong main street facades in partnership with local businesses.
The Project
In May 2019 Council invited owners of commercial buildings located in Tumut Street, Adelong to apply for funding to assist with improving the street appeal of their property. The initiative aims to incentivise business and property owners to upgrade the exterior of commercial building façades along Adelong's main street.
Eligible applicants could apply for up to $10,000 for their individual project. Property owners and lessee retailers may wish to contribute additional funds to the project.
The funding guidelines outline the approved uses of the fund as:
For commercial properties only
Painting, signwriting, repair and clean-up of facades
The requirement to use a specific Heritage Advisor approved colour palette for any exterior painting
Applications for funding closed on Friday 31 May 2019 and 14 local businesses took up the façade grant opportunity.
A Council officer will be appointed to oversee the projects, however, individual property owners will be responsible for the delivery of their project.
All projects were to be completed by May 2020 however due to bushfires and COVID-19 extension has been given through until July 2021.
