Council has secured funding from the NSW Office of Local Government’s Severe Weather and Flood Grant to develop a masterplan for upgrades to Adelong’s main street. This masterplan will focus on improved drainage solutions to better manage rain events (excluding major creek flooding) and enhance overall safety and usability.
Combining landscape architecture and engineering, the masterplan will lay the groundwork for future grant applications to fund the construction phase of the project.
Recently, Cr James Hayes and Adelong community representatives met on-site with Council’s Project Manager to kick off the master planning process. The Stakeholder Group expressed strong support for the project and is eager to see it progress to a shovel-ready stage.
Key streetscape design elements influenced by local input will include safety enhancements, drainage, finishes, public art, and landscaping preferences.
Council is also working with Transport for NSW, the road asset owner, to refine the design brief, which is set to be released to the market later this year.
FUNDING
Council has received a $115,000 grant from the NSW Office of Local Government’s Severe Weather and Flood Grant program, with the project scheduled for completion by the end of June 2025 under the current funding arrangements.
