Preparation works due to start

14 April 2020

Following the procurement of pavers, the Tumut CBD upgrade is scheduled to commence in mid-late May.

WORKS PROGRAM
The pavers have been ordered and are currently being fabricated. Initially, the old pavers will be removed and preparation for installation of the new pavers will be undertaken.

Work will commence at the intersection of Capper Street and Wynyard Street on the eastern side (Section one - see drawing).

The old pavers will be removed and preparation for installation of the new pavers will be undertaken. New pavers will be laid in sections to minimise disruption.

Once the paving is complete, the street furniture and planters will be installed.

Minor repairs of kerb and gutters and tree root management works will also be completed in a number of sections of Wynyard Street as part of the project.

It is anticipated the works will be completed in around 16 weeks subject to favourable weather.

During the work, social distancing practices will be followed by staff and contractors and Council will work with business owners to minimise disruption to business, shoppers and pedestrians.

Access to shops and properties shall be provided with appropriate traffic and pedestrian control within vicinity of the work site.

PAVERS
Pavers have been sourced from Western Australia and will be delivered in a number of consignments; the first delivery is expected in June. The selected pavers are reconstituted with a milled finish to meet all relevant slip rating requirements.

WATER MAINS
An assessment of the water mains was carried out and it was established that the infrastructure was in sound condition and replacement was not necessary as part of the upgrade project.
